Historical Background: This small centre between the rivers Valle Cupa and Turri is characterized by an agricultural economy, well-known for its wine production. Ari was ruled by the Orsini and later by the town of Lanciano. The first references to this village are bound to the church of St. Pietro of Ari, a possession of the Abbey of St. Liberatore a Majella. Of agricultural vocation, the village is situated on a hill dominating the Turri and Valle Cupa rivers, surrounded by vineyards and orchards.Worth a visit are Palazzo Orsini and the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, which preserves a wooden statute dating back to the Medieval period, representing a Madonna with the child.
