Historical Background: Canosa Sannita is situated on a hill just a few kilometres away from the Adriatic sea and was founded in the 9th century. The village was heavily bombed during World War II. The most ancient references to Canosa Sannita date back to the 9th century. A feud of the Celaya, it was attacked by the troops of the famous brigand Nunziato Mecola. The built-up area is situated on a hill between the torrents St. Onofrio and La Venna, in a typical natural landscape of Abruzzo. Today Canosa Sannita is a very active agribusiness centre, specialized in wine, olive-oil and fruit craftmade production.
