Historical Background: Situated on a hill over the Alento and Pescara Valley, this centre is famous for the presence of many row clay houses. Casalincontrada, whose name means border land was probably founded in the Roman Age. As a matter of fact the most ancient part of the village, brought to light by the archaeological finds in the district of Follonice dates back to the Roaman period, although the first official documents appeared only in the 13th century.Its territory was colonized by the Benedectine monks and had been under the rule of Chieti since 1419. It was a feud of the Caracciolo and Di Giudice.
