Historical Background: Casoli lies in the territory of the Aventino alley, on a hill, next to the Verde river and a just few kilometres away from the St. Angelo lake. Its economy is based on agriculture, but also tourism has an important role thanks to the closeness to the Majella Nationa Park and the nature reserve Oasi of Serranella. The origin of Casoli is dated around the year 1000, even if it is most likely that the first settlement dated back to the 4th century b.c.Today it is possible to admire the ruins of the ancient town Romulea. The most important feudatories in the history of Casoli were the Colonna and Orsini.
