Historical Background: This rural village is situated in the Nora Valley. The origins of the town are Romanesque, as it visible in the building elements of the town walls. The finding of two Romans cisternas would explain why the meaning of the toponym is bound to the word acqua (water). The most ancient witnesses date back to the Roman age, although the first written documents are dated 11th centuryIn 1269 the village became a feud of Sordello da Goito, successively of Bonifacio Gilberto. Then it was under the control of Leogani-Fieramosca.
