Historical Background: On the borders with the Molise region, Dogliola lies on the Trigno river banks. Dogliola takes its name from the Latin word Doliola, which means small barrel. The first references date back to the 12th century, when first appeared doliolam (small barrel)Successively it passed under the rule of the D’Avalos and, in the 18 th century to the Marzi family. In the middle of the Trigno valley, the village preserves partially its medieval structure.
