Historical Background: Situated in the Foro Valley, this village bases its economy on agriculture, and is famous for the Farchie feast. Fara Filiorum Petri means literally village of Pietro’ sons, because in the Middle Ages was under the rule of the monastery of Montecassino. Of medieval origins, Fara appeared only during the 9th century among the belongings of the monastery of Montecassino. In the 15th century it passed under the De Riccardis, successively under the Colonna, Cardona, Di Capua and Spinelli.
