Historical Background: This centre is situated on a rocky rise in the territory of the Tavo valley. Immersed in the wonderful green landscapes of the Vitello d’oro, Farindola has very ancient origins. The toponym comes from the word Fara, which means a group op persons. During the Renaissance, L’Aquila and Penne fought for conquering the rule over Farindola. Since in the 16th century Farindola was a castle of Penne, it was included in the feuds of Margherita D’Asburgo and the Farnese, until 1731 when it passed to the Kingdom of Naples.
