Historical Background: The village is situated on a hill overlooking the Sinello and Trieste rivers and is well-known for its textile manufacturing. It is situated at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level, with a population of about 1400 inhabitants. The origins of the village date back to the Middle Ages.The archaeological findings bear witness to some settlements during the Roman Age.The toponym appears in the documents of the 12th century. It was a feud of the D’Avalos. On a hill, the village still preserves its ancient structure surrounded by the town-walls. Worth a visit are some statues of the 15th century, in the church of St. SabinoOutside the built-up area lies the sanctuary of Beato Angelo of Furci.
