Historical Background: Gamberale is situated among the rocky slopes of the St. Antonio Mountain, on the left bank of the river Sangro, immersed in a wonderful natural landscape. Its territory has a surface of 15,57 square kilometres, among trees and pastures as well as uncultivated lands. The origins of this village date back to the Middle Ages, but the first documented mentions belong to the 12th century. In the 15th century it was a property of the De Anchino family, during the 18th century it was ruled by the Mascitelli of Atessa. Still visible are some ruins of ancient times.
