Historical Background: The village next to the Sinello river has a mainly agricultural economy thanks to its vineyards, olive groves and woods. Gissi was an important fortified cittadella (small town) in the 12th century.Gissi still preserves its ancient structure and is nestled on the hills covered with orchards and small woods, next to the Sinello river. In the parish church a wooden organ is preserved, dating back to the 17th century.
