Historical Background: Lettopalena rises a rocky hill on the right bank of the Aventino river. Its territory includes an area of 20,97 square kiometres.A village of medieval origins, dating back to the 11th century, which during the Roman period was under the rule of the near Roman town of Juvanum, a former Samnite and Carecini tribes important center. Unluckily there are only a few documents, so it is not possible to reconstruct the historical events of the following centuries: the village was under the rule of Antonio Caldora in the 15th century and successively of the Capua family, earls of Palena. From the 16 h century it entered the possessions of the d’Aquino of Caramanico. Worth a visit are the churches of St. Maria of Monteplanizio and St. Nicola of Bari. Of medieval origins, the village is quoted in documents of the 11th century. A feud of Antonio Caldora, it was later under the Capua and D’Aquino.
