Historical Background: Roseto degli Abruzzi is one of the most important centres in the province of Teramo. Between the Tordino and Vomano mouths, it bases its economy in particular on summer tourism. The small town is the typical Abruzzo’s seaside resort, provided with very good accommodation facilities. Many are the tourists coming every year, also from foreign countries, who enjoy the beaches of Roseto. It has a relatively recent history, since it was officially established after the beginning of the 19th century. Lately tourism as well as the trading activity have given this area a new push to local economy.The toponym Roseto was given in 1927: the former name was Rosburgo, given to the town by the king Umberto I, with royal decree in 1877. During the first War World the soldiers on the road towards thr Friuli front contested this name, since they thought it was of Austrian origin.
