Historical Background: The commune is situated in the surroundings of the mouth of the river Trigno; it has considerably developed in the last decades thanks to an ever-growing industrial area and that boasts enterprises like the SIV and MAGNETI MARELLI. Indeed, the tourism is concentrated in Marina di San Salvo area. Marina di San Salvo was originated in the 11th century when a Benedictine colonization happens, and the monks also built an imposing monastery, now entirely destroyed. The ancient part of this commune stretches on a rise dominating the Trigno plain, among olive groves, vineyards, peach orchards, with a wonderful sight over theAdriatic Sea. Along the coast strtches San Salvo Marina, an interesting seaside resort.
