Historical Background: The village is situated in the Vibrata Valley, at an altitude of 265 metres above sea level, with a population of 2500 inhabitants. It is well-known for its vineyards and the the wine production, famous all over Italy. Controguerra was founded in Roman age and had a certain importance also during the Middle Ages thanks to its good geographic position. In a location between the Tronto and Vibrata rivers, in a lush countryside, Controguerra preserves its medieval structure all around the Castle ( 12 th century), of which a turret mast is still preserved. The Concezione church of the 17 h century, Palazzo Rossi-Barcaroli with a Roman epigraph are the most important architectonic examples. Several archaeological findings of the prehistoric and Roman period are today kept in the Antiquarium of the tow council building. Controguerra is included in the so-called Via del Vino (Wine track) because of its excellent wine production.
