Historical Background: A small town of medieval origins, just seven kilometers away from the A14 motorway exit, it is well-known for the Neolithic village of “Ripoli”, of about 5000 years ago , which rose in its territory and represents one of the most famous prehistoric centres of Italy. Of the Ripoli archeological excavations is the famous Neolithic tomb “woman with the dog (found during the excavations of 1914), now kept in the National Archeological Museum of Chieti. The village on a hill of the Val Vibrata preserves valuable religious buildings.The parish church is dedicated to St. Agnese: it was rebuilt in different ages and has a bell-tower similar to the Atri one, with the upper ending characterized by an octagonal shape, embellished with polychrome majolica dishes and preserves the statue of Madonna delle Grazie, a Madonna with Child called Madonna Mejulana and the Wooden Statue of Good Friday. In the centre a valuable fountain of 1837. Well-known is the activity of the rope-makers in the village who create long hemp-ropes.
