Historical Background: A town between the mouths of the Foro and Alento rivers, Francavilla is one of the best typical seaside resort of Abruzzo, equipped with very good hotel accommodation and facilties.Francavilla is the extension of the southern part of Pescara. Wonderful are the sand beaches, while the green countryside is rich in agriculture, especially of several greenhouses for firstlings. Many are the entertainment events which take place in Francavilla such as the Carnival, a traditional parade with allegorical carts. The name Francavilla was given in the Middle ages, since during that period it was tax-free for 12 months (Francavilla means: free town).
