Historical Background: Silvi presents two different centres: one is the old part situated on a fortified rise, with a wonderful view over the sea; the other is Silvi Marina, with its hotels, restaurants and particularly its beaches which welcome tourists. Silvi Alta is the ancient hamlet of the small town situated at 242 metres above sea level. The high area of this commune was a conglomeration built by the Romans called Castrum Silvi. In the 14th century San Giovanni in Venere abbey took the possession of this feud which then became the property of Acquaviva family.
